GymShark Black Friday Shopping Spree!
When I saw that Gymshark’s Black Friday Promo was offering up to 70% off on their clothing, I jumped on it. Gymshark is one of those brands I’ve been wanting to try for a few years now. Super popular in the Bodybuilding space, Gymshark is a UK Based Brand that has been represented by many of the top fitness influencer I follow on social media. This reputation in the bodybuilding market has worked well for Gymshark as they seemgly have unlimited access to every 20-something physique model to show off their clothes. But I wondered how an amateur fitness guy like myself would look sporting the Gymshark name. And so I picked out a variety of tops and bottoms that were at least on 40% discount, because hey..who doesn’t like a good deal?!
I ended up spending about $200 buying 12 different items from Gymshark during Black Friday. To me, that is a pretty good bargain considering the number of items gained from a reputable fitness clothing brand. Of course, I knew my purchase came with a grain of salt. Generally, the most discounted items are discounted for a reason. Side note, apologies for the picture quality. I was trying out a new lens and couldn’t figure out the autofocus. Everything you see here was taken by me. No one told me how difficult self portraits would be! You’ll see me hiding my phone behind my back for that very reason.
I ended up returning 8 of the 12 items I purchased, including this zip up hoodie. I loved the hoodie, but the zipper was on the opposite side I was use to and it didn’t zip! The other items like this under shirt just didn’t look very flattering on my body. The cuts of every shirt are very form fitting on top and allow for some stretch. Shirts are cut super long so I had no problem pass the arms above head test, no mid-drift show with these shirts! At the same time, the bottoms were also very loose around my stomach area. The loose material combined with the extra length cause a weird wavy appearance in most of the shirts I purchased when I tried them on.
My favorite shirt is the one seen below. I really like the graphics of this olive green shirt, it really stands out in a unique way. I haven’t seen a lot of non-traditional athletic brands do a lot of bold graphic design with their clothing. I think there’s an opportunity for more boldness in these designs. But as much as I like this shirt, I still have the same problem with the extra material around the stomach section. The shirt fits a bit weird because after one wash, my chest and shoulders make the shirt look a little small on me, while the extra fabric on the bottom of the shirt makes it look a little big.
Ah my picture taking skills are on point with this next picture. I just noticed that I have put the tree beside me in focus, and not my amazing Captain Morgan Pose. But here you can see my favorite Gymshark Bottoms. Gym Shark offers a variety of 2 in 1 shorts which I like. Some fit better than others. I really like this pair, and I like the color. Again, I really appreciate all the style options provided on the men’s side of Gym Shark’s line. The compression and length is just right on these shorts and they are pretty light weight. Perfect for a any adventure!
So in conclusion, the results of my Black Friday Shopping Spree were mixed. The price was right, but unfortunately the fit wasn’t for most of the items I purchased. With that said, I plan to give Gym Shark another try. I feel like the quality and fit might be better if I was willing to spend a bit more on their full priced items, which are still lower in price than other premium men’s athletic clothing lines. For those looking to buy Gym Shark at a good price, I would buy in bulk with the mindset of returning items afterwards. The process is pretty easy and Gym Shark provides pretty good customer service.
I wonder what I should try out next..any suggestions?
