A Review of my latest Workout Clothes from RHONE!
About a week ago, Rhone, a men's performance activewear and lifestyle brand, asked me to try out some of their workout clothes. The Rhone brand has recently partnered with Equinox Gyms to offer the fitness club's first ever full pop-up retail concept. The Rhone shops will live in 11 Equinox locations across the country, including one in Dallas (the Preston Hollow location. The pop-up store in Dallas opened earlier this week on Monday, April 24 and showcases an assortment of Rhone apparel and accessories. And so, Rhone allowed me to tryout a few of their top-of-the-line apparel that includes some of the most advanced technology in men's activewear.
Going in to this review, I was most eager to try give Rhone a shot because of one thing in particular: Goldfusion Technology. You can read all about this technology on their website but in short GoldFusion Technology assists in sweat-wickening while eliminating odor. Above all else, I struggle with finding a shirt or a pair of shorts that reduces how much I sweat and remains odorless beyond the first time I wear it. More importantly, I want my athletic clothing to remain odor-free for as long as possible. But for those who know me, I may be asking for the impossible given just how much I sweat in nearly every scenario. Hell, if I breath too hard ill start sweating for no reason!
So over the last few days, I put Rhone and their clothing to the test. I wasn't going to take it easy, say pose for a few pictures while holding a dumbbell or two and call it a day. I literally worked out 5 days straight for at least an hour in the same Rhone Shirt and Shorts. I exercised both inside and outside. I also washed the clothes each time to measure any changes in fit or functionality. In this review, I was looking to test the following 3 aspects of Rhone's atheleticwear: Sweat wickening/Drying time, Odor-free effectiveness, and durability. For each workout, I made sure to build a healthy sweat, which isn't too difficult for me. Additionally after each workout, I remain in my workout clothes for at least an hour. It's during this time when I typically notice body odor caused by my workout. It's also usually the time when my fiancé gets home from work, and refrains from getting too close to me for the same reason.
After all the testing, I honestly have to say I'm impressed. Even after 5 consecutive workouts and washes, the Goldfusion Technology continues to live up to the hype. After I'm done with a workout the shirt drys pretty quickly and maintains it's shape. Often times I sweat so much the moisture will cause my shirt to expand and remain stretched until the next wash. The next thing I noticed? I had no B.O! I nor my lovely fiancé didn't really notice any change in odor in that deadful hour after returning from the gym. I even went to the supermarket, took a good while to buy groceries, let a checkout attendant spend an eternity struggling to find the barcodes on all the produce I had purchased, and yet no dirty looks!!! I usually the most sensitive to how I smell and I honestly couldn't notice any difference preworkout compared to post workout. Lastly, these clothes are durable. Given all the abuse I've put these clothes under, I'd say they held up pretty well. None of these pictures were of the clothes brand new. All pictures were taken during workouts and after at least one wash.
I can attest that the fit is true to size, I'm about 6'0 ft tall and 186 lbs. I'm wearing both size medium shirt and shorts. The shirt feels premium, provides a mild compression in the shoulders/chest area without restricting movement. I will say that the shorts I'm sporting are on the short side which doesn't bother me but I believe Rhone offers different lengths. Short mobility isn't an issue and the built-in lining is nice especially when lifting or doing yoga. To be completely honest I didn't follow the washing instructions very well, because in my life I typically treat my workout clothes just like anything else. However, my error-apparent ways in washing did not affect the Sweat wickening/Odor-fighting functionality of the shirt or shorts.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed the clothing from Rhone. I would say the biggest drawback for most guys however is the price. These clothes are not cheap. That being said it's obvious this premium workout gear we are talking about here. Hell, the clothes include advance technology called GOLDFusion Technology! GOLD!! I think you get what you pay for. These clothes are built to last much longer than your typical workout clothing while remaining functional in reducing sweat and fighting odor. I also think they look good and fit pretty well too. To my fellow guys out there (especially those who sweat a lot and may/may not have a post-workout odor problem) I think Rhone is worth a shot.
