Two Friends: Endless Inspiration
This past weekend two friends who Have become big influences in the Dallas Fitness Circuit provided community workouts free of charge to the public. The only thing is both workouts took place on the same day just hours between each other. Always up for a double dose of group fitness, I took this challenge head on.
My Sunday Funday started out with a High intensity interval workout by the infamous Sharif Abboud and fitness extraordinaire Paige Martindell. The workout focused on all parts of the body and included a 16 minute block of bleacher running which made everyone’s legs scream by the end of the 45 minute session. Although we have over 120 people working out at the same time, Sharif and Paige did well to keep everyone on track through the 33 different stations/exercises that were plotted throughout Gerald Ford Stadium at Southern Methodist University.
To keep that many people motivated throughout such a complex workout requires much more skill and focus than you would think. Thank you to Paige, Sharif, Sweat Collective and all the vendors that came out and made this a great way to start my Sunday.
I didn’t have any time to waste before my next workout which was with my fellow Dallas Fitness Ambassadors. This next workout was dedicated to the DFA Group turning 2 years old! My friend and DFA Founder Mai-lyn aka Deep Fried Fit put together a group cardio fitness class sponsered by Cowboy Fit, a new gym located at The Star in Frisco. The Instructors from Cowboy Fit lead us through an aerobic dance class that emphasized a lot of legs, core work and punching.
Midway through, we lined up on the football field outside of the gym for some sprint intervals and calisthenics. I definitely recommend checking out this gym, the facility is state of the art and has everything you could imagine, including some monkey bars for those obstacle course racers out there. We were also treated with some free passes to the gym, and some other goodies that sponsor the Dallas Fitness Ambassador Network.
I am so glad I was able to attend and support two people who are doing big things in the Dallas Area. I’ve known Mai-lyn since before she started blogging and to see how successful she’s become with her al her projects and the creation of the Dallas Fitness Ambassadors makes me feel so proud! I’ve got the same love for Sharif, a guy who has worked hard for so long to open his own gym and in the process created a strong following that extends well beyond the walls of Evolve Fitness. Needless to say, these two have inspired me and so many more to not only stay fit, but also to work hard, stay focus, and follow your dreams.
